Your Support is appreciated
Thank you for considering a donation to SAS Performing Arts Company. We are passionate about celebrating performance whether it is Drama, American Musical Theater or Classical music . We believe the performing arts elevate, entertain and, most importantly, educate. Especially during these times, creating a way to produce a version of theater that you will enjoy takes time, talent, and financial support.
SAS Performing Arts Company began the year with master classes featuring International Opera Stars Dr. Isola Jones and KS Tichina Vaughn. Our stage productions of Showtune The Music and Lyrics of Jerry Herman and The Fantasticks, were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We used this time to create virtual productions which utilized the zoom platform to rehearse, record, and stream our presentations. Since September 2021, we have presented “In Remembrance” a concert to honor the memories of those we lost to the pandemic and, in December 2021, our Virtual Holiday Party celebrating songs of the season. Complete presentations have included Dracula: A Radio Play, Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol, Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, The Mountaintop by Katori Hall, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass adapted by Eva Le Gallienne, and finally William Shakespeare's comic masterpiece A Midsummer Night's Dream reset in modern day New York. SAS Performing Arts looks forward to 2021 honoring a rich legacy of quality theater, focusing on both classics and newer works, a new series of family friendly events, as well as reviving our Concert Opera Series.
Our pledge to education sets us apart and creates opportunities for students of all ages to experience the impact theater can have on learning. In December of 2020, our Performing Arts Vocal Competition for Opera singers awarded almost $7,000 to young professionals to help them continue their studies. Our studios will be back in operation in 2021 with classes in Drama, American Musical Theater and Opera.
As we were adapting new ways to fulfill our mission, SAS was recognized by the city of Newark, New Jersey with a grant to help support the work we are doing as we promise to reach out to our community to connect with a diverse audience. In addition, we are proud to be a supported by Amazon Smile. When you make a purchase through Amazon Smile, a portion of your sales is donated to SAS.
Your support is crucial, especially as this unprecedented time of rebirth. The arts need your support. By supporting SAS Performing Arts, you will ensure that our twofold mission continues which include our classes and workshops as well as offering theatrical and muscial performances which , in the fall of 2021, should include the return to live theater. Ticket sales cover only a small portion of our expenses — less than half. It is your generosity that provides the rest.
