The SAS Opera is committed to presenting performances of acknowledged masterpieces and rarely performed works that deserve a more extensive hearing. We also introduce the brilliant talents of emerging artists alongside professional opera singers. Our season comprises complete concert operas, complete acts and scene programs in our Opera Act by Act program, young audience events, and individual artist recitals, all of which promise a high-quality and memorable experience.
Prepare to be captivated in September as the SAS Concert Opera presents "An Enchanting Opera Masque: An Evening of Iconic Opera Scenes." Our singers will perform music by Bizet, Mozart, Offenbach, Verdi, Puccini, Poulenc, and R. Strauss. In October, if you're a fan of classic horror, Gian Carlo Menotti's The Medium. This one-hour "melodrama" is about a fake psychic whose surprise encounter with the unknown leads to murder and mayhem. This will be a double bill with Philip Grecian's adaptation of "Dracula". An afternoon that will hold you spellbound.
SAS Annual Vocal Competition is becoming one of the go-to events for young singers. In the six years of this competition, our winners have gone on to perform with such prestigious companies as the Paris Opera, the Washington Concert Opera, the San Francisco Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera. It promises to be an afternoon of high excitement and stellar singing.

This performance will showcase the incredible talents of both emerging artists and established professionals, who will present selections from Sondheim's iconic Broadway repertoire. In October, if you're a fan of classic horror, Philip Grecian's adaptation of "Dracula" will surely hold you spellbound. Get into the holiday spirit in December with Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," also adapted by Grecian. In February 2025, enjoy the sharp wit of Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest," and in March, be enchanted by "A Grand Night for Singing," featuring the timeless music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Concluding our festival and in honor of America's 250th birthday, we present Thornton Wilder's poignant slice of Americana, "Our Town," scheduled for June 2026. With such a diverse array of performances, there is something for everyone!
SAS MAINSTAGE focuses its efforts to promote classic and contemporary plays, and American musical theater works by bringing them to audiences that might not have the opportunity to attend and enjoy live theater, thus enriching the community's cultural life. Our mainstage makes this intricate art form more accessible to our audience. We hope the exhilarating connection generated between the music, text, and drama becomes more immediate in an intimate, up-close environment. We are a home for performances of acknowledged masterpieces as well as the rarely performed works that deserve a more extensive hearing.
Participants from our Dramatic Arts Studio are considered for roles in these productions, which will enable them to perform and perfect their craft.
