SAS AMERICAN MUSICAL THEATER STUDIO

The Broadway musical is considered a purely American art form.  Their music and lyrics are considered part of the "Great American Songbook,"  the canon of the most important and influential American popular songs, jazz standards, selections from the American Musical Theater stage, and Hollywood musical films.  Even though there are several collections of music published under this title, the term does not refer to any actual book or a specific list of songs but a varied range of musical selections, including the most popular and enduring songs from the 1920s to the present.
Some noted musical theater composers and lyricists who fit into this category include Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, Lerner and Lowe, Frank Loesser, Jerry Herman, and Stephen Sondheim.

This studio focuses on acting, textual, stylistic interpretation, and diction. Each workshop will have an assigned music director/accompanist.
