What is "ROLE"?

SAS Performing Arts Studios ROLE (Repertory Online Learning Experience) is a two-tiered performance-focused program designed for aspiring professionals seeking comprehensive artistic development. Our workshops and classes provide a supportive and constructive environment. These workshops offers role study, including individual coaching and group rehearsals in style, interpretation, and staging which concludes in performance. This one-of-a-kind program, crafted to foster the complete artist in you, is open to performers of all levels of expertise. Our dedication to enhancing each artist's education and development is evident in the integral role that rehearsal and coaching play in the schedule.

ROLE classes equip performers with skills which include audition technique, scene study, script/score analysis, artist branding, the business of a performing career, as well as masterclasses by guest faculty.

These programs support performers at all levels and promote artistic growth.

In ROLE, participants study, create, focus, and perform.

ROLE is separated into distinct divisions as follows:

Our purpose-driven approach informs every aspect of the ROLE program focusing on repertory of both classic and contemporary works. Select your area of interest to learn more about individual studios,

Training is essential for performing artists, whose talents are developed, encouraged, and showcased through performance that is recognized by audiences and peers.
We invite you to review our classes and workshops and hope you find an opportunity that allows you to shine in the spotlight.

WHERE WE DO IT?

Most programs are offered in person at various studios as well as via zoom.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

Our goal is to keep the cost as affordable for all participants as possible.

The ROLE Programs range between $200 to $400, depending on the workshop and chosen role to study. Participants receive individual music coaching, complete cast music/recitative sessions, character development/staging, and dress rehearsal to prepare these works for performance. Included in the program cost, participants can select two (2) additional classes of their choice. Each performance will be professionally videotaped and participants will receive a copy for their personal use.

The Individual Role class sessions cost $35 per session.

WHEN WE DO IT?

Throughout the year, sessions meet at convenient times during weekdays, weeknights, and weekends and will meet either once or twice a week

We invite you to take a look at what we have to offer and we are you sure you will find a program or class that will be beneficial to your growth as a performer.

Working with SAS during the pandemic has been an incredible experience. In a time when we were unable to participate in and consume live theatre, Steve and the SAS team put so much effort into re-creating the experience as much as possible, ensuring that each actor had access to props and costumes and finding beautiful backdrops to create the world of each play. Even over Zoom, SAS has been able to cultivate a community of kind, hilarious, talented individuals, and I felt like I was able to get to know many of them as if we had been in person. Additionally, Steve’s expertise as a theatre practitioner makes for enjoyable seminars, where he provides brief yet in-depth and interactive overviews of dense topics including the history of musical theatre and the work of Stephen Sondheim.
